Humane society dog found after disappearing from fundraiser

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A 6-year-old male German Shepard named Shadow, that was feared stolen during a dinner and auction Saturday night, has been found safe.

"Unfortunately towards the end of the evening it was discovered that one of our WCGHS dogs, Shadow, was stolen out of a truck in the parking lot of the Firstenburg Community Center in Vancouver, WA during our fundraiser," the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society's Facebook page said.

A humane society spokeswoman said a family saw Shadow running around near the venue and took him in for the night.

It's unclear how he escaped from the truck.

The family dropped Shadow off at another humane society Sunday morning.

It took several hours for the shelter to identify Shadow, but once they did they returned him to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society. He's now back with his foster family.

Shadow was brought to the shelter by his previous owners after being told his breed was not allowed on the property.
