Homemade bombs found in trunk of impounded car

SNOHOMISH, Wash. -- Workers at a local tow truck company were shocked Tuesday when they found two explosive devices in the trunk of an impounded car.

The car was reported stolen on July 18 and recovered the same day, according to the Snohomish County sheriff's office. Deputies arrested the driver and the car was towed to the 13000 block of Bonneville Avenue in Snohomish, where it remained untouched until Tuesday.

While inspecting the car Tuesday morning, employees at the impound lot found a pipe bomb and another homemade explosive device in the trunk, according to deputies.

The Interagency Bomb Squad, which is made up of personnel from the Sheriff's Office, Washington State Patrol, and Everett Police Department, collected the devices and "disrupted" them at an undisclosed location, according to the sheriff's office.
