Hit-and-run driver strikes mother walking with infant in stroller

SEATTLE -- A 32-year-old mother taking her 9-month-old child for a walk in a stroller was hospitalized Friday afternoon when she was struck by a car, and police are still looking for the driver.

Police say it was around 1:20 p.m. when the driver crashed into the mother in the 14000 block of 19th Ave. NE, then sped away.

Medics arrived and took the mother to Harborview Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition with a lower leg injury, Seattle police said. The stroller was knocked over, but the infant wasn't hurt.

Witnesses provided different descriptions of the car -- either a maroon Acura or dark brown Mercedes, but all said it had a cracked windsheild. The driver was described as an Asian man with spiked black hair.

Detectives are still investigating the crash. If you have any information on who the driver might be, you can call Seattle police.
