Police: Missing sex offender who talked about abducting women found
LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- Officers found and arrested a missing Level III sex offender Monday morning in the apartment that was the scene of his original crime, according to the Marysville Police Department.
According to police, 39-year-old John Stains was found inside the Lynnwood apartment where he was convicted of sexually assaulting and threatening to kill a female family member after she let him stay there three years ago.
Following his release from prison, where he had made comments about abducting and sexually assaulting women, Stains was supposed to be staying at a home on 61st Street in Marysville. But when detectives showed up for a monthly check on Thursday, they were told he had left several weeks earlier, according to police.
Stains was booked into Snohomish County Jail on a felony warrant and for investigation of failing to register as a sex offender.
