Freezing temps cause pipes to burst in Redmond, Seattle

SEATTLE - Freezing temperatures forced pipes to burst at two apartment complexes Saturday.

Fire crews arrived at the 17700 block of NE 90th in Redmond to contain a busted water line. A firefighter responding to the call injured his leg when a wall of the apartment gave way. The man sustained minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

In North Seattle, firefighters struggled to contain a pipe that burst on Northeast 45th Street. Witnesses say water was pouring from windows and flooding the building.

Six units in the complex are uninhabitable, and fire officials say they're working on fixing the interior supply line to the sprinkler system.
