Firefighters rescue man from Green River in Kent

KENT, Wash. - A man was hospitalized Tuesday after firefighters rescued him from the Green River in Kent.

Crews responded to the scene, in the 22000 block of Frager Road, at about 4 p.m. after a passer-by called 911 to report a possible drowning, said Kyle Ohashi of the Kent Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, the man was on the edge of the river and conscious. He appeared to be suffering from an unknown medical condition as well as exposure to the extremely cold water of the river, Ohasi said.

Medics provided assistance to the man at the river bank until a rescue basket could be lowered down to them using a ladder truck. He was then brought up the bank and taken to a local hospital.

It is unknown how the man got into the river or why he was there, Ohasi said.
