Fire in vacant Tacoma home spreads to neighbors' house
TACOMA, Wash. -- Firefighters battled a blaze early Tuesday morning that started in a vacant home and then spread to a neighboring home near Commencement Bay in Tacoma.
Just before 3 a.m., firefighters responded to N. 11th St. and N. 26th St. to find a burning home that had forced a second residence next door to evacuate. A husband and wife escaped that home safely, and nobody else was reported inside either building.
A cause is currently unknown, as crews continued to fight the fire for hours after their initial response. The home where the fire started was a total loss, and the other home was seriously damaged. The couple that escaped is currently staying with neighbors.
We will update this story as we receive more details from the Tacoma Fire Department.
