Father arrested for DUI after crashing car with 3 kids inside

TUMWATER, Wash. -- Investigators believe a Federal Way man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol Wednesday evening when he crashed his car while driving with his three young children.

The man was driving northbound on I-5 near Tumwater at about 6:30 p.m. when he somehow lost control of the car and crashed, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill. The car ended up upside down in a grassy area just off the roadway.

The three children in the car -- ages 5-, 7-, and 10-years old -- were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Gill.

The 32-year-old driver was not injured. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment. He was booked into Thurston County Jail Wednesday night.
