Family and friends remember inspiring high school athlete

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - A memorial was held for Dom Cooks, whose story of overcoming adversity has touched many people.

Cooks, 18, was a standout athlete on Decatur High's football team until an aggressive brain tumor sidelined him from the sport last year. The Decatur ambassador and homecoming king was even a finalist for USA Today's Most Inspiring Athlete.

When doctors gave Cooks only a few months to live, Decatur High School moved up graduation so he could collect his diploma.

Classmates, friends, and family paid tribute to the inspiring teenager on Saturday with music and remembrances.
