Driver rear-ended after braking for ducks on I-5
RIDGEFIELD, Wash. -- A driver’s car was totaled in a crash on Interstate 5 Sunday afternoon when he rear-ended someone who had slowed down for a family of ducks on the road, Washington State Patrol said.
Initial reports say both drivers were heading north on the interstate when about 5 p.m. one of them saw some ducks in the roadway three miles south of Ridgefield.
She started braking for the ducks, and was rear-ended by another driver.
Both drivers were taken to local hospitals for treatment; no word on whether any ducks were hurt.
Troopers ruled that the cause was “following too close,” however the crash investigation is ongoing.
As of Monday morning, troopers haven’t cited either driver.
