Driver OD'ing on heroin slams into several parked cars

SEATTLE - A driver believed to be overdosing on heroin slammed into several parked cars Friday morning along Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle, officials said.

Police and medics responded to the scene, on Fourth Avenue near Pike Street, at about 10:35 a.m. after receiving a report of multiple cars being hit, said Kyle Moore of the Seattle Fire Department.

When medics arrived, they found that the driver of the vehicle that struck the others was not breathing. The driver, a man in his 40s, was revived with a drug to him that is commonly used to treat drug users who overdose on heroin.

No one was injured in any of the other vehicles.

Moore said it is the first time he has heard of someone overdosing on heroin while driving.

"That's a little unusual, I have to say," he said.
