Approximately 40 dogs were rescued from a possible breeding operation in Stevens County, Wash.

They're getting medical care with the help of the Oregon Humane Society, and were initially rescued by the groups Rescue4All and Spokane's Humane Evacuation Rescue Team Tuesday. Officials say the dogs had been living outside most of their lives and were chained up for so long, they had suffered deep neck lacerations.

The owners are facing multiple felony charges.

OHS is taking care of five of the 40 dogs, one of whom gave birth to five puppies. One of the full grown dogs named Love had severe lacerations around her neck and torso, and had surgery Wednesday.
