Disaster Information Office opens in Darrington

DARRINGTON, Wash. - People affected by the 530 mudslide have a new place to seek assistance as the disaster information office opened in Darrington on Saturday morning.

The office will serve as a one-stop shop where area residents can connect with local, disaster-related assistance.

"We want the community to know Snohomish County is here to help," said Snohomish County Ombudsman John Koster. "I'm happy to be part of the effort to connect people affected by the slide with the right local agencies and county employees to guide them through the process of finding assistance."

The office opens at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 3, in the old bank building, 1075 Darrington St., and county staff will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
