Detectives investigate fatal stabbing, house fire

BREMERTON, Wash. - Police are investigating a homicide Sunday after a man was stabbed to death, a woman was injured, and a house caught fire.

Officials say when deputies arrived in the 8500 block of Covina Loop NE, a neighbor was giving the victim CPR. He was transported to a local hospital with stab wounds and later died.

The neighbor who called 911 also reported seeing smoke coming from the house. Firefighters were called and quickly extinguished the flames.

A Kitsap County Sheriff's spokesman says the woman suspected of stabbing the man was airlifted from the same home to Harborview Medical Center with unknown injuries.

"At this point we do believe that person is responsible for the stabbing of the deceased male," Kitsap County Sgt. Ken Dickinson said. "At this point I can't tell you the relationship, or any of the reasons behind it."

Detectives received a search warrant for the home late Sunday evening. They do not yet know what led to the fatal stabbing, or what caused the small house fire.

More information is expected to be released once detectives investigate the home.
