Detective who pulled gun on motorcyclist identified

KING COUNTY, Wash. -- The detective who pulled a gun on a motorcyclist during a traffic stop Aug. 16 in Shoreline has been identified as 53-year-old Richard Rowe, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

Rowe has been with the Sheriff's Office for almost 19 years and is currently assigned to the Woodinville Police Department , according to a news release. The City of Woodinville contracts with the Sheriff's Office.

Rowe has been put on paid administrative leave since a video was released that showed him pulling a gun on a motorcyclist during a traffic stop in Shoreline.

The motorcyclist believes Rowe went too far in how the situation was handled.

According to the news release, a full investigation will be completed on Rowe's actions, including a review for criminal charges if warranted.
