Motorcyclist hits curb, collides with pole in South Seattle

SEATTLE - A motorcyclist died in South Seattle after hitting a curb, flying through the air and colliding with a utility pole early Saturday morning, Seattle police say.

The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. and happened near South Columbian Way and South Alaska Street.

The rider died on scene. He was traveling east on South Columbian Way and approaching South Alaska Street when he hit the curb.

Officers do not believe any other vehicles were involved. The road was closed but has since reopened.

Fire officials with the Seattle Fire Department also responded.

Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are investigating.
