Dan Lewis: Seahawks fervor an amazing kind of magic

Who hasn't said "Go Hawks" over the last few weeks? Sure, there are some people who might not be football fans but "Go Hawks" - just two words - are having an amazing impact on Seattle, the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

This is the kind of thing that can't be measured when we talk about the value of having a pro team in our town, the high salaries, the big bucks we've paid to attend games and the years we've spent not being one of the top teams in the NFL.

When it all comes together - WE all come together.

You can't put a price on that.

The Seahawks have had an amazing season. They have dedicated themselves to winning. They have worked hard. Very hard. They are one of the best. Maybe they ARE the best.

And here we are - the 12s. We are a team of our own. We are proud to be from Seattle ... proud to be a Seahawks fan ... proud to be wearing the blue, the green.

I've seen strangers smile at each other, high five each other and hug each other. Everywhere I go people say to me "Go Hawks!"

I wish I knew how to teach this kind of camaraderie. I wish I knew the politician who could rally us together like this. I wish I knew how to work this kind of magic.

It is magic. It's fun. It's amazing.

We're from Seattle. With all our faults, we still are one of the best cities in the country, with maybe the best football team in the country.

We are a community.

We are proud.

We are the 12s.

Don't underestimate the power of two words: "Go Hawks!"
