Couple robbed of phones, shot in West Seattle

SEATTLE - A man and woman were robbed of their cell phones and then shot in front of witnesses Friday morning in West Seattle.

The drama unfolded in a convenience store parking lot in the 9000 block of 18th Avenue SW at about 4:30 a.m., police said.

The couple was standing in the parking lot with two other people when four men drove into the parking lot and robbed the couple.

As the four men were pulling away in their vehicle, something caused the driver to stop. He got out of the car and shot the man and woman in the lower part of their bodies, police said.

KOMO News talked to one witness who says he heard five gunshots.

The man and woman, believed to be in their 20s, were able to make it across the street to Montridge Arms apartments as police and medics responded to the scene.

The couple received treatment for leg injuries and were taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are checking surveillance video from a convenience store as they look for four men in a car who robbed the pair.
