Searchers comb property owned by Emery brother arrested in child-porn investigation

SHELTON, Wash. - Investigators and search dogs in Mason County Saturday combed through a second property owned by three elderly brothers charged with child-pornography offenses.

A search on another property in Seattle's Greenlake neighborhood earlier this week turned up "a home littered from floor to ceiling with child exploitation images, children's clothing articles, toys and movies," court documents say.

Investigators say the brothers visited the Mason County property often. Search crews could be seen Saturday night unloading a large backhoe onto the property's backyard.

Officials haven't said yet if anything has been found.

From the ground, all that appears to be on the land is an old, run-down house and thick woods. From the air, however, it's possible to see other buildings and several cars on the property.

Records show that the home belonged to Donald Emery, the the oldest of the Emery brothers. Donald died last year.

The Sheriff's Office said Saturday that cadaver dogs were being used to see if there was any connection to missing children cases in the area.

Gabe Harder, a neighbor, lives just through the woods from the Emery property. He says its unsettling to have this kind of search going on near his backyard.

"You can tell the property is dilapidated, and occasionally you hear stuff going on over there," Harder said. "It just brings a sobering reality to know that's really going on in the world."

Gary Holt, another neighbor, lives just down the street and says he knew the Emery brothers growing up.

County records show that the Emery brothers also owned 14 other acres directly behind the lot in Mason County.

The land hilly and rough and will be difficult to search through, Washington State Patrol said.

Detectives said there is no specific information linking the brothers to these crimes, but they did find a missing person fllier for 10-year-old Lindsey Baum from several years ago in the home, which prompted the search Saturday.
