Charges: Child molester impersonating officer threatens to kill teen
LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A convicted child molester was arrested Wednesday after sexually harassing and threatening to kill a 14-year-old girl at Lakewood Towne Center, according to charges filed in Pierce County Superior Court.
According to the charging documents, the victim was sitting on a bench waiting for a bus with her friends when Jon Carrington, 28, came up behind her and started rubbing her back. The victim later told police she didn't know Carrington and was terrified.
After rubbing her back, Carrington reached into the victim's purse and placed a small baggie of marijuana in a side pocket, according to the charging documents. He reportedly told the victim he was a Department of Corrections officer and would arrest her, put her in handcuffs and take her away from her friends.
According to the charging documents, Carrington, who also claimed to be a gang member and have a gun, went on to say he would shoot the victim in the head if she told anyone he gave her marijuana or called the cops. He then reportedly told the victim's friends he would kill them, too.
Carrington started walking away when a witness intervened, and Lakewood Police Department officers arrived in time to detain him.
According to the charging documents, Carrington repeated the claim that he was a DOC officer to the actual officers and said he gave the victim marijuana because he thought she wanted some.
Carrington, who had a monitoring bracelet on his ankle at the time of the incident, reportedly told officers the victim was lying because "that's what little girls do."
Following his arrest, Carrington told officers he is going to prison for years because he had just gotten out for child molestation, and they don't mess around with repeat offenders. He was convicted on two counts of child molestation in 2010.
Carrington has been charged with felony harassment, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance to a person under the age of 18, sexually motivated assault and criminal impersonation in Wednesday's incident.
