Car collides with light rail train in South Seattle
SEATTLE - A driver is hospitalized after a crash involving a Sound Transit light rail train in South Seattle Friday night.
It happened around 6:00 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. near S. Myrtle Street.
Aerial video from Air 4 showed a mangled car on the side of the tracks, next to a stopped train.
The 42-year-old man driving the car was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. No word on his condition.
The southbound lanes of MLK Jr. Way S. were shut down in that area for about three hours while police investigated and cleared the scene. The road has since reopened.
No word yet on how the crash happened.
