Boyfriend arrested after death of abused toddler in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. -- A 3-year-old boy died at Mary Bridge Hospital on Tuesday night after being brought in with signs of abuse, and the boyfriend of the boy's mother was arrested.

Loretta Cool with the Tacoma Police Department said the child arrived at the hospital around 11 p.m. showing signs of trauma and having trouble breathing. He died a short time later.

Officers went to the home of the boy's 23-year-old mother and arrested her 28-year-old boyfriend. A 2-year-old child also in the house was placed with Child Protective Services, Cool said.
