Armed robber pulls off Silverdale jewelry heist

SILVERDALE, Wash. -- An armed robber pulled off a brazen jewelry heist Wednesday morning in Siverdale.

Police responded to a robbery report just after 10 a.m. at the Kitsap Mall. When sheriffs arrived on scene, they learned that two jewelry dealers had been held up at gunpoint as they got ready to go inside for a jewelry show.

The two men, ages 66- and 47-years old, said they had just parked their van near the mall's main entrance when another man approached them with a handgun. The robber walked to the back of the van and grabbed a lockbox containing jewelry.

He then placed the box in a gray single-cab Chevrolet truck that was parked next to the van and drove away, heading northbound on State Highway 3, according to Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

The robber is white or hispanic, stands roughly 5'10" tall and had a beard and mustache. He was wearing a hat and dark sunglasses at the time of the robbery. Detectives aren't exactly sure what kind of gun was used, as the victims gave different descriptions. One said it was a revolver, while the other indicated that it was an older style semi-automatic weapon.
