Additional resources called in for 1,000-acre fire burning in Okanogan County
A fire burning in Okanogan County is now estimated at 1,000 acres, state fire officials say.
The blaze is burning near Carlton and is called the Canyon Creek Fire. The fire has doubled in size since Saturday.
Level two and three evacuations are in place, officials say. Crews from across the state are helping to extinguish the flames.
Highway 153 is closed between Lower Beaver Creek and the Methow River bridge just south of Carlton.
A state Type 3 Fire Management team assumed control of the fire Sunday morning and brought in additional resources.
