8 people escape early morning Tacoma house fire
TACOMA, Wash. - Eight people managed to escape from an early morning house fire in Tacoma, emergency officials said.
Crews responded to the scene, in the 5000 block of 68th Street East, at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports of smoke and flames at a residence there.
Eight adults were outside the home when firefighters arrived. No one was injured.
The blaze was quickly contained, but was still smoldering stubbornly in the basement of the home hours later.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
