5 arrested for theft ring in Kirkland, at least 100 victims
KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Police arrested five people Thursday after a search warrant led to the discovery of a theft ring in Kirkland, according to Kirkland Police sgt. Eric Karp.
According to Karp, detectives discovered various stolen items including mail, checks, electronics and vehicle registration at an apartment near the 14800 block of 123rd Avenue Northeast in the Lendemain neighborhood.
There may be hundreds of victims, according to police. So far, 100 victims that have been identified, Karp said.
Because there has been an increase in criminal activity in the area, Karp said, investigation and calls from neighbors led to the search warrant at the residence.
Investigators are continuing to sort through the stolen mail to identify more potential victims.
Counterfeit money, drugs, stolen equipment and license plates were also found.
According to police, there could be more related arrests to come.
