4 flights diverted from San Francisco to Sea-Tac

SEATTLE (AP) Officials at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport say four international flights scheduled to fly into San Francisco have been diverted to Seattle.

Sea-Tac airport spokesman Perry Cooper says Seattle is the closest major airport in the United States for aircraft flying over the north pole and heading to the West Coast.

The four flights being diverted to Sea-Tac are coming from London, Dubai, Frankfurt and Paris. Cooper says the airlines will decide whether to keep passengers in Seattle for the night or possibly fly out later Saturday if parts of the San Francisco airport reopen.

Cooper also reports that four flights scheduled to fly from Seattle to San Francisco have been canceled. Most San Francisco flights flew out Saturday morning before the crash occurred.
