MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Marysville Police have arrested three teens they suspect were involved in a trio of fires set outside Pinewood Elementary schools over the past week.

Just after 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters extinguished a small fire in a green recycling bin near the gym. On Monday, firefighters found a dumpster fire outside the school just after 2:15 a.m. There was also a smoldering fire in a portable restroom. Then on Wednesday about 4:30 a.m. there was another dumpster fire. It was in the same dumpster as the previous fire. No one was injured in any of the fires and there was no damage to school buildings.

Three suspects were captured on school security cameras and led to their arrest. One teen was booked into the Denny Juvenile Justice center for two counts of reckless burning. A second teen had reckless burning charges referred to the Snohomish County prosecutor.

An 18-year-old man is being held for investigation of second degree arson.

Investigators say there could be more arrests.

“This is still an active investigation, both into the fires themselves and the interviews of potential witnesses”, said Commander Mark Thomas of the Marysville Police Department.

Officials continue to ask staff, families, and community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior in and around the schools after hours by calling 911.
