Police: Man shot dead at Renton apartment, shooter critically wounded by third person
RENTON, Wash. -- A man is dead and his alleged shooter was critically wounded by a third person during a shooting at a Renton apartment complex Sunday morning.
Police say a man went up to a second-floor unit at the Plum Tree Apartments and fired a shot at the door lock to break in. Once inside, the gunman shot another man inside, killing him, according to police.
But a woman who lived in the apartment went and retrieved her gun and fired back, critically wounding the shooter, police said. He stumbled out into the parking lot where he was found by officers. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.
Investigators believe all three knew each other and the shooting might have stemmed from a family dispute.
Police said the woman who fired the shots at the intruder is not under arrest and will not face any charges.
