FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (KOMO) - Two teens were shot and seriously injured Wednesday morning near the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, police said.

Police say one person of interest was taken in for questioning and that the case remains under active investigation.

The incident unfolded at about 9:40 a.m. when two 17-year-old boys went to meet with someone in the back parking lot area of the aquatic center at 650 SW Campus Drive, said Cathy Schrock of the Federal Way police. An altercation ensued and the two teens were shot, she said.

Police responded and found the two victims with gunshot wounds. They were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition.

Schrock said the victims are known to police and the shooting was not a random incident.

Police at the scene later said the incident could be related to last week's shooting outside Graham-Kapowsin High School, which injured two other students.

Witnesses are cooperating with investigators to help identify the suspect or suspects and the getaway vehicle.
