2 missing Pierce Co. children found safe, mother in custody

TACOMA, Wash. - Two local children who vanished Thursday night have been found safe, Pierce County officials said.

A search was launched earlier for the young brother and sister after their mother violated a court order and took them, Pierce County officials say.

Lexi Rougutt, 4, and Jaden Rougutt, 6, apparently were taken at about 8 p.m. Thursday by their mother, Temeka Rougutt, 38, who does not have custody of the children, officials said. When last seen she was driving a blue 1999 GMC Envoy.

Then, at about 7 a.m. Friday, the mother pulled up to a family member's home in the Puyallup Valley. The missing children were with her and unharmed, said Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer.

The mother was taken into custody and the children have been returned to their family.
