All lanes now open after 2 incidents on I-5 in Snohomish County caused major backup
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. (KOMO) -- Two separate incidents on both directions of Interstate 5 caused huge traffic delays in Snohomish County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
All lanes of northbound I-5 just south of state Route 531 in Smokey Point are now open after being blocked for about two hours Wednesday afternoon, according to the WSDOT.
The northbound collision near Marysville reportedly involved two semi trucks and a car. The driver of the car was reportedly transported with serious injuries, according to a tweet by Trooper Heather Axtman with Washington State Patrol.
Traffic was getting by very slowly on the shoulder causing a big backup after the collision happened, Ally Barrera with WSDOT said.
The second incident involved a four-car collision just north of Marine View Drive near Everett. The second incident was about nine miles south of the other crash, Barrera said. All lanes are now clear southbound, according to WSDOT.
