2 injured when car crashes into Auburn creek

AUBURN, Wash. -- Two people were being treated by medics after their car crashed and overturned into a creek in Auburn Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened near the intersection of West Valley Highway and SR-18 just after 2 p.m. Video from Air 4 showed about half the car under water with the back end still sticking out.

Auburn police say an officer noticed the car driving recklessly on the West Valley Highway and when the officer turned around, the car sped off.

The officer didn't give chase, but continued that direction until he was notified that the car had gone into the creek.

The officer went and pulled the driver out of the car and began CPR on the person until medics arrived.

The driver has been taken to Harborivew Medical Center in Seattle but their condition is not known. One passenger in the car was taken to Auburn General Hospital to be checked out while a third person in the car was not injured, Auburn police said.
