2 injured as semi truck slams into minivan off Hwy. 18

HOBART, Wash. - Two people were injured when a semi-truck lost its brakes on Highway 18 and crashed into a minivan Tuesday morning, the Washington State Patrol reported.

State troopers responded to the scene, near the intersection of Highway 18 and Issaquah-Hobart Road, at about 6:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious crash.

A preliminary investigation found that the semi-truck was heading west on Highway 18 from Tiger Summit when it lost its brakes, the State Patrol reported. The driver exited to Issaquah-Hobart Road and slammed into a minivan.

The semi driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the minivan was rescued from her vehicle by emergency responders. Both drivers reportedly sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Delays are expected on westbound Highway 18 and on the Issaquah-Hobart Road while the accident is cleared and the investigation continues.
