2 injured as out-of-control SUV slams into cars in S. Seattle

SEATTLE - Residents of a South Seattle neighborhood got a rude awakening early Friday after an SUV crashed into several cars before landing on its top.

Police and medics rushed to the scene, on Rainier Avenue South near Orcas Street, at about 1 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious accident.

Witnesses say the crashing, grinding noise of metal on metal jolted them out of bed.

"Man it sounded like some closets getting kicked in or dragged or something," said one witness, Gicarr Wright. "It hit the metal like something was getting drug."

Witnesses also say the two men in the SUV were rushed to the hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.

Four other cars were damaged in the wreck.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the driver to lose control.
