17-year-old man recovers after Westlake shooting

SEATTLE - A 17-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound in an alley near 3rd Avenue and Pine Street at Westlake shortly before midnight Friday.

A garbage truck driver says he saw a group of men enter the alley, and saw them running back out a short time later after hearing a pop, possibly a gunshot, according to police reports.

Several people were with and around the victim when police arrived, but none were able to provide police with information on what happened.

The victim was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers recovered a .22 caliber shell casing in the 200 block of Pine St., and are continuing the investigation.
