1 hurt, 1 arrested in apparent racing crash on SR-18

AUBURN, Wash. -- One person was seriously hurt in a three-car crash near Auburn Thursday morning that troopers say may have been caused by racing.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of SR-18 near Green River as a Porsche and Camaro were racing, said Trooper Chris Webb. The Porsche went off the road, rolled over and caught fire, Webb said. The driver suffered a broken leg and internal injuries. A witness was able to put out the flames.

Webb said a third car not involved with the racing was also struck and had minor damage.

Meanwhile, troopers are investigating the crash as a vehicular assault and one person has been taken into custody.

The left two lanes of the highway are expected to remain blocked rough early Thursday afternoon.
