1 dead, 2 in custody after stabbing in Edmonds parking lot

EDMONDS, Wash. - One person is dead and two others are in police custody after a stabbing Friday morning outside a grocery store in the Westgate neighborhood of Edmonds, officials said.

Police and medics responded to the scene, the QFC store at 22828 100th Ave. West, at about 5:55 a.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance, said Assistant Chief Jim Lawless of the Edmonds police.

Police found a man in the store parking lot with severe stab wounds. He died at the scene.

While responding to the area, officers received a description of a vehicle seen leaving the area just after the disturbance. Police located the vehicle and pulled it over at 15th Street SW and 8th Place South.

Two occupants of the vehicle, a man and woman, appeared to have been involved in some kind of altercation, and both are considered suspects in the stabbing, Lawless said. They were booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery.

A preliminary investigation found that the two occupants of the vehicle and the victim were known to one another, and that no one else was involved in the disturbance.

The names of the victim and suspects were not immediately released.
