1 dead after crash on SR 167 in Auburn
AUBURN, Wash. -- A 35-year-old womanr was killed Friday afternoon after a crash on northbound state Route 167 just south of eastbound state Route 18 in Auburn, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The woman was driving when her car reportedly went off the road and 50 feet up an embankment, then crashed. It is unclear why the driver drove off the road.
The woman was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Patrol.
A 28-year-old male passenger was reportedly conscious and alert, but was also not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
State Patrol is investigating if drugs and/or alcohol were involved. Troopers do not believe the crash was caused by the driver's death.
All lanes of state Route 167 were opened just before 5:30 p.m.
