Three bids best for contractor projects
Price is important, but you want a lot more than that when get contractors to bid for your project.
Cheryl Reed with Angie's List runs down some of the key points.
"Payment terms, a start and complete date for the project, the kinds of materials that are going to be used and what kind are they? You want to make sure it's quality material, of course. The cost of permits if there are any needed to be pulled and the cost of the final payment."
The bidding process also gives you a chance to get a feel for that contractor and how that company will deal with you if you hire them.
You may have people coming into your house for a weeks or longer.
So, you want to feel comfortable with that company.
"You will also be able to see how well they communicate. That's key going into the project. Are you on the same page as they contractor? Does he or she really agree with what you're doing or are they going to sort of take over your project and do it the way they want to do it?"
