Safety recalls for light fixtures and dehumidifiers

If you know anyone who uses a dehumidifier, tell them to unplug it stop using it immediately. A new recall is under way to get 2 million of these units off the market because of a fire hazard. A dozen popular brands are involved, including Kenmore, DeLonghi and Frigidaire.

And we're not talking simple scorch marks on the floor. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports more than $2 million in property damage so far. Check the models involved and find out how to get a refund.

The CPSC also announced the recall of 8,000 ceiling-mounted light fixtures by Dolan Designs out of Portland, Oregon. The problem is a fire and shock hazard. Consumers are advised to stop using the lights immediately and returned them to the place of purchase for a free replacement. You also contact Dolan Designs to schedule a free in-home repair.
