Many museums offer free admission to active military and their families

Here's a great deal for active military personnel and their families - free admission at more than 1,800 museums across the country this summer.

Amy Domres is with the Seattle Art Museum, one of the many great museums taking part in the Blue Star Museums program.

"We're really proud to do this, to be able to thank our military families," she said.

The Blue Star Museum program runs through Labor Day.

"Just come to the desk, bring your ID and then we let you and up to four family members in for free," Domres said.

Participating museums include the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

There are a bunch of museums in this area on the list, including the Museum of Flight and the Burke Museum in Seattle, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, the Puget Sound Navy Museum in Bremerton and the Nutcracker Museum in Leavenworth.

Domres at SAM reminds us: "Free is a great price."
