Hotel chains that satisfy their customers

As we head into the summer vacation season, a lot of us will be booking hotel rooms.

When it comes to satisfying their customers, a few major chains are doing better than the rest, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Travel Report.

"Some of the brands that are scoring near the top, not quite at the luxury level, but near the top, are Hilton's Hampton brand, Marriott's Courtyard and Fairfield Inn and Crowne Plaza which is an Intercontinental brand,” said David VanAmburg is ACSI’s managing director.

Some economy brands, VanAmburg says, while not scoring high in overall customer satisfaction, do what they do well – offering a clean room at a low price.

"Econo Lodge, Super 8 Hotel, Days Inn and Motel 6, they don't have great levels of customer satisfaction, but that's not typically why travelers stay at those hotels. They're looking for a nice bed and a place to rest their head, maybe to break up a long drive,” VanAmburg told me.

This year's ACSI Travel Report fins that the food served at many hotel restaurants leaves something to be desired. Slow Internet is another common annoyance.
