"Oiling the tracks and checking springs are really important things to do that can extend the life of your garage door," she says.

"We all rely on those, especially if you have kids or pets to make sure that door doesn't come down and hurt anyone. So checking those periodically is really important because they certainly give us peace of mind," says Hicks.
A garage door inspection and tune-up is a good way to prevent expensive repairs down the road. For about $100 you can get the springs adjusted, moving parts lubricated, hardware tightened, a safety check, plus troubleshooting for potential problems.
