Dealing with bed bugs

Despite their name, bed bugs aren't limited to your bed.

They can live anywhere. And they can show up in anyone's house. It doesn't have anything to do with whether the home is clean or dirty. All these guys want to do is to suck your blood.

Bed bugs are the ultimate survivalists. They can go up to 18 months between meals.

"Bed bugs are something you want to address immediately or they become a problem," says Angie Hicks, founder of Angie's List. "It's not just treating your bed; you want to check your bed frame, the carpet, really the whole room to make sure you've gotten rid of them completely."

Angie says you can try to eliminate the bugs yourself, but only if there are just a few and you're sure they're in a very limited area.

Wash everything in water above 120 degrees and steam clean rugs and carpets with retail insecticides.

Otherwise, call a professional. The have various treatments that work.
