Consumer Reports' top-rated electric lawnmowers
Electric lawnmowers have come a long way in the last few years. In fact, Consumer Reports is recommending a record number of electric models this year. The best of the bunch can cut as well as gas mowers.
The EGO LM2101 was the top-rated electric push mower. It performed "on par" with the best gas models the magazine tested and excelled in all three cutting modes.
The editors say the EGO LM2101 is "exceptionally easy to use" and it's very quiet. The mower's lithium-ion battery provides enough power to cut at least a quarter of an acre of grass on one charge.
The Black+Decker CM2060C, the second highest-rated battery push mower, is a more economical choice. At $400, the Black+Decker CM2060C is about $100 less than the EGO, and it still cuts "really well," especially in the bagging mode, the editors said.
Remember, electric mowers don't use gas, don't need oil and no routine maintenance except for blade-sharpening.
