The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Puts the “Sport” Back in SUV

Alfa Romeo has finally debuted its first SUV, and the Stelvio doesn’t disappoint.

Alfa Romeo has finally debuted its first SUV, and the Stelvio doesn’t disappoint. Carefully designed to offer the functionality of a roomy SUV with all the thrill of an Italian sports car, this vehicle has the potential to bring excitement back to your everyday drive.

Italian elegance

Rather than emulating the blocky SUVs so commonly seen on American roads, the Stelvio takes its aesthetic cues from Italian sports cars. This machine is sleek and proportioned perfectly for a 50/50 split in front/rear weight distribution.

Three trim levels

Right now the basic Stelvio and the Stelvio TI are available in the U.S. The Quadrifolgio model, the sportiest of the three, will make it here in 2018.

Plenty of power

The Stelvio has a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that offers 280 horsepower and 306lbf.ft of torque. Reaching 60 mph in around 5.5-seconds, the standard and TI trim levels bring plenty of power. When the Stelvio Quadrifoglio makes it to the U.S. it’ll bring a 2.9L twin turbo V6 engine and 505 horsepower with it.

Key safety features

With forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning systems and a backup camera standard, the Stelvio checks the boxes for the safety features today’s drivers rely on.

All wheel drive

A Q4 All-Wheel Drive system delivers the right torque to each wheel based on road conditions to help the Stelvio drive beautifully in any season, on any terrain.

Three driving modes, in automatic and manual

The Alfa Romero D.N.A. drive modes include Dynamic, Natural and Advanced Efficiency. Dynamic offers the least power assist and the most feedback, while natural is in the middle and Advanced Efficiency offers the most power assist and less feedback.

The base, TI and Quadrifoglio trim levels all offer a manual mode as well, and the TI has a special feature – large paddles attached to the steering column that can be used to shift. These highly responsive Ferrari-style shifting paddles bring excitement and dynamism to any drive, even your morning commute.
