About 7:30 a.m., a citizen called 911 to report a vehicle in the ditch on 12th St NE east of the I-5 overpass near Dagmars Landing, Everett Police said.
Officers arrived in the remote area and found an SUV upside down and the woman trapped inside. The SUV was wedged into the ditch which prevented the doors from opening. The woman was mostly submerged in water and only had a small pocket of air to breathe from.
An officer broke out the driver side window but the woman was unable to get out. The Everett Fire Deptartment was dispatched and extricated the woman using the "Jaws of Life."
She was treated for hypothermia and other minor injuries before being transported to Providence Medical Center - Colby Campus. Her injures are believed to be non-life threatening.
During the investigation the woman could not provide an exact timeframe, but believed she went into the ditch as darkness fell Thursday night. Officers noted the vehicle was loaded with personal property which prohibited the female from climbing out the back of the SUV, police said.
