Woman targeted in possible drive-by purse snatching

SEATTLE -- A woman was the victim of a possible drive-by purse snatching last Thursday in the University District, according to the Seattle Police Department.

The woman was walking north on 17th Avenue Northeast around 2:45 p.m. when she noticed a red sedan with saran wrap covering the front passenger-side window driving behind her.

She later told officers she noticed the car because it was driving very slowly and nearly stopping at times.

The car passed her and turned onto Northeast 55th Street, slowing even further as it did so.

As the woman crossed 55th Street, she looked for the car but didn't see it.

But, just after getting to the other side someone grabbed her shoulder bag from behind, pulled it over her head and ran back down 55th Street in the direction the car had gone, according to the report.

The woman told officers the man who grabbed her purse didn't say anything during the robbery, and she was unable to give a detailed description of him.
