Fire crews were rushing to the scene around 6 a.m. when they received reports that one person was trapped in second level of the home. Upon arrival, firefighters raced into the home to rescue the stranded woman, but were unsuccessful as the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Lacey Battalion Chief Tim Hulse said one of the survivors went to check on a noise downstairs when they saw flames, and immediately alerted the others to get outside.
Three occupants were able to escape the fire, and were later assisted by Red Cross volunteers who offered food and clothing. The survivors are now staying with relatives.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Thurston County Sheriff's office.
